Note: Besides Ecstasy and Euphoria, all familial relationships are not blood relatives.

Settlement One

Lucas (Dismay): Lucas was among the first few to be changed, and was living in the cells of the Academy for years. While there, he learned to hone his natural talents, so while he is not the strongest psychic produce, he is one of the most controlled. He picks up projects and becomes involved in them to the point of singlemindedness, and when he does not have a project he's looking for one; he can come off as distant because his mind is so focused on what he's doing or his search. Despite a tendency to be sharp towards anyone who can't keep up with his thought processes, he is good at seeing to the root of a problem and finding the easiest way to fix it, and most issues at the settlement get brought to him.
PB: Sendhil Ramamurthy

Samuel (Dread): Samuel was also living in the cells of the Academy for several years, which is when he and Lucas became close; they are occasional lovers, but that's not as important as their friendship. Samuel is the only person who can get Lucas's focus or make him realize he's been short with people; Lucas is the only person who can get Samuel to move from the ball in bed he would otherwise be all day. They don't tell people about Samuel's change, which leads people to speculate he's either damaged or too strong a psychic; the truth is, he's too scared of the world to deal with it most of the time.
PB: Topher Grace

Settlement Two

Alice Clark (Surprise): The only of the surviving doctors to have lucked out and gotten a somewhat pleasant emotion, and it manifests in surprising others as much as it does seeking them out. Technically she's the founder of the settlement, but as soon as she could find someone more suited to run it, she did. She and James are married in every way but legally, and she is fiercely protective of her family.
PB: Gillian Anderson

James Clark (Fear): One of a handful of doctors who were both psychic enough and in the wrong place at just the right time to get caught in the backlash, and one of only three who survived. Despite being paranoid even for a group of people who only survive by constantly watching their backs, he's a kind man who wants everyone to be safe more than anything. He's the doctor for the settlement now, and most of the rest come to see him if they need someone; he lucked out in retaining most of the medical knowledge from the man he used to be, and studies whatever he can get his hands on to keep everyone as safe as he can.
PB: Thomas Gibson

Lauren Clark (Wonder): Everything in the world is amazing and beautiful and, well, wonderful to Lauren; she's one of the people that embodies her emotion the most. When something's bringing her down, you can be sure something terrible is happening. She and Danny were changed on the same day, and he's been her brother since then; she was the one who found James and Alice. She's particularly close to James, who's trying to teach her to be careful. It's not going very well.
PB: Erika Toda

Danny Clark (Zest): Danny is the baby of the family, and every bit as bouncy and gleeful about the world as his sister. He finds everything exciting and he never hesitates to share it, even when he probably should. He's not good at thinking twice when he's excited. James is working with him on that.
PB: Jesse Bradford

Settlement Three

Agony: He was one of the first three who were changed, the same three who were the first to escape. They never got into the habit of keeping a name, so when they settled down they never bothered to pick permanent names either; everyone at the settlement who needs to know who they are, does. Their settlement is the original one; they founded the settlement together and they run it behind the scenes. They also happen to be lovers and extremely, inseparably close -- you'll almost never find any of them without the other two.
Agony's is an inward-centered emotion, and he's become very good at blocking it out because of that. He's the spokesman for the three of them, and generally the most talkative, though that doesn't say much.
PB: Matthew Laurence

Contempt: The second of the threesome. She was extremely unstable before changed, and she still has moments where the wires cross and she can't work right. Mostly because of this, she's all but incapable of controlling her emotion. People get used to her looking down on them, because with most people she can't do anything else.
PB: Alicia Witt

Envy: The last of the threesome, and the quietest. He tends to stay in the background and hates drawing attention to himself. He's very good at doing what's needed before anyone knows they need it. His emotion is fairly balanced between inward and outward; he has bouts of it and has bouts of causing anyone who passes to experience a spike in it, but he tries to stay away from people when it spikes up.
PB: Josh Duhamel

Grey: One of the handful of escapees not from the group that got converted. In addition to being highly psychic, Grey is precognitive, though she has no control over it. She stays at the settlement for Chris and Terror more than the settlement itself; they started out together, and she's protective of them. She takes on a lot of odd jobs in the settlement, to take the burden of paying for Terror off of Chris.
PB: Addison Gill

Chris (Horror): His emotion is fairly balanced and as carefully controlled as he can manage, but he's not skilled in it. Grey helps him suppress things most of the time. Terror is his older sister, and he thinks they might have been related before they were changed, but he's not sure; he does what he can to take care of her. He gives the impression of being tired all the time, and between suppression, taking care of Terror, and trying to earn his keep in the settlement, that's pretty accurate.
PB: Ben Jelen

Terror: One of the one whose emotion completely messed up her brain, Terror is childish and swings between being quite cheerful, if not all there, and scared out of her wits, often at the drop of a hat (quite possibly literally). She knows Chris takes care of her and that she loves him and that's about as much sense as she makes most days.
PB: Hayley Westenra

Travelers

Wrench (Tabitha): One of the escapees from the unconverted classes, and also the only one to travel on their own. Wrench prefers not to have to keep an eye on anybody else, even if it means nobody's watching her back. She does a variety of illegal jobs, many of them lethal to somebody, and keeps herself alive any way she can. She's on the lower end of psychic for her class, but she's also telekinetic and good with weapons, so it balances out.
PB: Michelle Branch

-

Anguish: Anguish and her sister were two of six very early finished products of the program who were twisted farther into inhumanity by their change. They feed off their emotions in others as much as they induce them; for Anguish, this is dangerous for anyone she targets. Anguish lures in victims by playing innocent; she's got most of the group convinced she's not as bad as her sister. She has excellent control but doesn't bother to use it most of the time.
PB: Amy Acker

Torment: Like her sister, Torment feeds off her emotion in others. She doesn't play the same games Anguish does; which isn't to say she's more dangerous, just more obvious.
PB: Vanessa Carlton

-

Bliss: He and his brother are among the six most twisted by the change. They are both very detached from reality; his emotion is like a drug, both to himself and to anyone affected. The stay close together and manage enough presence of mind to keep themselves safe, but they have difficulty pulling their minds together enough to do anything else.
PB: to be determined

Desire: Like his brother, he is detached from reality; he is slightly closer to sanity than Bliss, but not far. His emotion is also an addiction for him, as is his brother's. He helps Bliss to block things, as he's both a stronger psychic and has more presence of mind to do it.
PB: to be determined

-

Ecstasy: She and her sister are the last two twisted by the change. Ecstasy keeps her walls up just enough to keep from spilling out all over the place; almost everyone is still affected, but not nearly as thoroughly as they could be. She is very close to her sister and rarely even lets Elaine out of her sight.
PB: Ania Cywinska

Elaine (Euphoria): Of the six twisted by the change, Elaine is the most human; she tries to stay close to sanity, to keep her and Ecstasy safe, but it doesn't always happen. She's is very good at keeping people out of her mind, but not very good at keeping her own mind and emotion reigned in. She prefers to stay close to her sister, though she's not as dependent as Ecstasy is on her.
PB: Ania Cywinska

-

Harry (Hope): Harry's is an inward-centered emotion to the point of making him appear painfully naive and trusting at times; he cannot help but believe things will turn out for the best and people are good, no matter how badly things are going or how bad they seem. When Harry is worried about the chances of things being okay, the entire world must be going to hell, and he can have trouble staying serious when it's called for; when he distrusts someone, they're either from the Academy or have given him very good reasons to feel that way.
PB: Callum Blue

Michael (Passion): Michael is very physical; he's a strong receptive psychic and it helps keep his shields stronger to stay focused outside of his head. His emotion, which is inward-centered, helps drive him towards simplistic thought; he feels everything very strongly, and is easily wrapped up in what he chooses to focus on. He does everything he can to keep Harry safe and remind him not to let himself slip during danger.
PB: to be determined

-

Mel (Shame): Her emotion is inward-centered and something she tries not to tell the others about; most are under the impression that she wasn't changed, that she was just a student. Mel is shy and usually near silent when she doesn't know people, but she's very loyal when she becomes close to them. She's deeply in love with Ray and would follow her to the end of the earth; she's convinced herself it's not because of what Ray is, but there's a part of her that knows she'll never be entirely certain, and it confirms her original urge to never say anything to her.
PB: Norah Jones

Ray (Rapture): Ray is quiet but open, generally friendly and welcoming to anyone who crosses her path; she makes acquaintances easily but takes a long time to trust. Mel has gained her trust completely, and is the only one who has.
PB: Van Tomiko

-

Peter (Shock): Peter was another finished product and is another one who feeds off feeling his emotion in others; it's not nearly as bad as it is for the other six, though, and he's fairly sane despite it. He can go between wild and slipping back into his training frequently, though he tends more towards wild. He and Wendy do whatever they can to cause, well, shock and awe in other people; sometimes it's with an end in mind, but more likely, it's to create chaos and emotion for their own sakes.
PB: Mario Lopez

Wendy (Awe): Like Peter, she was a finished product, and she deals with her emotion and her desire to cause it in the same way as him. She tends more towards the training than wildness, but swings as readily as Peter does, and often they either follow each other or balance each other out.
PB: Sara Rue

-

Buzz (Misery): Cheer gave him the nickname one day, and unlike several nicknames she gave him beforehand, that one stuck. A more subdued person than his traveling partners, Buzz is none-the-less fairly easy going and pleasant, mostly due to their influence.
PB: to be determined

Cheer: When she needs a more legitimate sounding name, she calls herself Cherry. Cheer is as good-natured as her emotion implies; she's a happy woman who enjoys her life, as difficult as it might be.
PB: Vienna Teng

Scribble (Alia): The nickname came in the days before training began, because of her constant writing; when she told Cheer, the nickname stayed. All Scrib wants from life is to be a writer; she's bright, easily pleased girl, especially under Cheer's influence. She is a strong but badly controlled psychic; the Academy's experimental treatments also left her deaf.
PB: Aragaki Yui

-

Gabriel (Pity): He's the only reason Kite doesn't go insane every ten minutes and Pat gets out of bed some days. One of the stronger psychics among the class, he helps reign Pat in, and has made sure they imprint on Kite enough for her to trust them. He's generally a subdued, gentle person, though he has his moment of frustration. He's one of the few who were changed that retained some memory of before the Academy, and there are times when all he wants is to go back to that life and be normal.
PB: Rupert Grint

Kite: The experimental treatments went wrong with Kite; her memory is completely destroyed. She has some very vague memories of being in the Academy, and nothing from before it; she can't make new memories, although things can register with her shallowly, more imprint than proper memory. She can hold on to things for ten minutes at most, maybe fifteen or twenty if she's really trying to concentrate, before it will slip away. She's also a strong psychic with no control over it, both projective and receptive.
PB: Alice Kastrup-Moller

Patrica (Guilt): The last doctor who both was changed and survived it. She was high up in the program, which probably accounts for her being Guilt. Though she travels with Kite and Gabriel, she does what she can for the rest of them whenever she can. She's stronger than she seems in most ways, but she doesn't have high defenses and her emotion works inward, so she can never escape it.
PB: Gina Torres

-

Nicole (Anxiety): Nicole was nearly through the program when her change happened; it turned her into a believer, and finding Reggie during the escape just reinforced that belief. She relies on prayer and her traveling mates to get her through the day without breaking down. On the other hand, she's grateful for even the smallest good things that happen.
PB: Amelia Warner

Noel: Coming from a rich and privileged background, the Academy was the first truly bad thing to happen to Noel; always a pessimist, it turned her into a bitter, quiet person. The experimental treatments also lead to her losing her sight. She is a low-strength psychic but has a knack for picking up dangerous thoughts.
PB: Darla Baker

Reggie (Relief): Reggie quite literally ran into Nicole, on the verge of a panic attack, during the escape, and immediately decided to take care of her; when they found Noel, he took to her in the same way. He's made it his mission in life to lighten their lives a little. His emotion is balanced between inward and outward, making it easier for him to keep a decent outlook, and to minimize Nicole's anxiousness.
PB: David Krumholtz

-

Amy (Anger): One of the four sisters, all four of whom were changed early into the program, and who are very dependent on each other. Amy is the baby of the group (although none of them can actually recall their ages); she is excitable and emotional, and helps keep the others motivated. In return, they keep her from wandering off or losing her temper at the wrong time.
PB: Amy Jo Johnson

Daisy (Despair): The strongest psychic of the four, and the level-headed one; she makes sure they have all the necessities, and generally is the decision maker when there's disagreements. She's the big sister of the group, the girls rely on her to know what she's doing, and she does her best not to disappoint them.
PB: Piper Perabo

Gilly (Grief): The emotional support. Gilly just wants her sisters, and everything else is second to them. If the others want something, whether it's necessary or not, she will do everything in her power to make it happen. She is also generally the calm one, and tends to deal the most with the other groups.
PB: Alison Sudol

Joy: Her emotion is outward-centered to the point of sapping her of any non-enhanced happiness she feels; she relies on the others to work as a feedback loop and help her regain some of it. Like the others, her mind tends to be wide-open, and her abilities are weak.
Joy can be something of a human drug; she's spilling out happiness, lifting people's endorphins and flooding their chemical centers, and the reaction when they leave her can be a kind of coming down. This both reinforces and adds an unhealthy aspect to the sister's relationship that none of them are willing to face; they've all been around her long enough that happiness doesn't quite feel happy enough without her. Since she's depressed without their feedback, there's small likelihood of them addressing the problem, in case it leads to one of them leaving.
PB: Karen Gillian

-

Alanna Graham: Alanna is determinedly cheerful, despite her nearly nonexistent shields and fairly frequent bad days. She focuses on helping out with the little things -- making sure everyone eats and stays well-clothed, trying to make them comfortable wherever they end up -- because she's rarely sane enough to help out with the group's business. She's a decent thief, when she can think straight. She has no walls; any thought she has gets broadcast to the others.
PB: Alona Tal

Chelsea (Spite): Chelsea and Erin escaped together; when Erin turned her mind to revenge, Chelsea was immediately on board. Despite her eagerness, she is often the voice of reason, pulling Erin and Vinnie back when they goes too far. She is the main reason they haven't launched a full-scale and completely doomed attack on (now what remains of) the Academy and content themselves with tracking down the people sent after the escapees.
PB: Janeane Garofalo

Erin (Sorrow): It was Erin who decided that getting away wasn't enough; it's partly a coping mechanism for her. Her emotion is inward-directed, and focusing on revenge clears her head. She is unofficially the leader of their group, although she'd deny it if asked.
PB: to be determined

Vinnie (Triumph): Vinnie is in it for victory more than he is for revenge; he can get carried away, especially with the rush adding on to his inward-centered emotion. He and Alanna traveled together for a while before he they found Erin and Chelsea, and he's rather attached to her, treating her like a little sister; he and Chelsea are lovers. When he's calm, he's good-natured and likes a good time; when he's not, he can be dangerously wild without someone there to bring him down to earth.
PB: Lee Thompson Young

-

Frannie (Rage): One of five caretakers for Hysteria; she's the best at getting through to her, nobody's quite sure why. She was nearly a success when changed, and her control is excellent; she is more receptive than projective, and when her shields are up it's near impossible for most of them to get anything from her. Her emotion is balanced outward and just as carefully controlled; she's not great with weapons, but she's very good at getting people to lose control through overwhelming anger. She keeps to herself, and prefers to do as little as possible that will still get maximum reward.
PB: Kristen Kreuk

Hysteria: Possibly the most messed-up person to come out of the Academy, Hysteria has no walls. Her emotion is mostly centered inward, but it's not uncommon for spikes to affect the people around her. She has the occasional calm day, but nobody counts on them coming around. She occasionally goes through paranoid fits, blaming her caretakers for her insanity, and has tried to hurt them before.
PB: Clea DuVall

Lisa (Disgust): Lisa is with the group mainly because it was the largest, and therefore had the most people to watch her back; she's their planner, and keeps her ear to the ground to find out where the danger is, and therefore, where they shouldn't be. She has very little to do with Hysteria on an individual basis, or, for that matter, any of the others; she keeps to herself and expects the others to give her the same courtesy.
PB: Beth Riesgraf

Seth (Scorn): Before Seth was changed, he was #17. His "training" had been completed for years; he and a few others were sent in as extra security when things happened, and he was caught in the backlash. Relearning how to act normal longer than it takes to do a job has been a long process that isn't entirely finished. He's the strongest psychic of the group, and very good at shields; he helps reinforce the rest of the group as well as taking care of himself. He's deeply in love with Theo, who keeps him human, and they keep a strong mental connection most of the time; when he's away from Theo too long, he starts slipping back into his training.
PB: Alexis Denisof

Theo (Care): Theo's the only one who isn't taking care of Hysteria because he can block. If anything, it's the opposite. He doesn't do much guarding, but he does what he can to keep everybody comfortable. He's also their resident fast-talker and, when it's necessary, quick fingers; he's very good at getting out of slippery situations and getting them whatever they need. Basically, he keeps them all going day to day, doing and getting the little things no one else might think about.
PB: Justin Bartha

Walter (Worry): When Walter lets his walls down, he's incapacitated with how badly things hit him. Because of that, he keeps his walls incredibly strong, and gets them reinforced by the rest of the group; as a side effect, he can be both careless and selfish, though he doesn't do it on purpose. When his walls falter it's as though he's a completely different person. He's a generally good-natured person at all times, though. He and Seth have become close friends, and they're very protective of each other.
PB: Burn Gorman
